What are the entry criteria?

The entry criteria for Butler and Household Management are as follows:

  1. You must hold a high school graduation diploma or equivalent, or be at least 18 years of age and pass a qualifying test
  2. You must complete the on-line application
  3. A telephone interview is required
  4. You must be able to pay for the course.
  5. Your overall application is reviewed and approved by the admissions team. The admissions team consists of 6 people (school representative, the director, 2 teachers, industry administrative representative, client representative)
  6. A valid current passport


Is there any practical work experience?

Because the Academy employs laboratory methodology of instruction, each student has a daily opportunity to learn relevant skills through hands on experience.


What are the qualifications of the instructors?

The qualifications of our instructors are located on our website in the Academy Staff section.

The criteria for becoming a instructor at the Charles MacPherson Academy is strict. Without exception, Instructors must possess a minimum of 2 of the following 4 qualifiers.

  1. He or she is currently working or has worked in the luxury Domestic and or Hospitality Industries for a minimum of 10 years
  2. He or she is a relevant expert in their field
  3. He or she has a teaching or training background
  4. He or she is affiliated with the Domestic Industry in some form for a minimum of 10 years

 

How many trainers are working or have worked as butlers?

To what extent does the school assist in placing graduates?

We support our graduating students 100% either through our own network or through our associated agencies who recognize our graduates. Our own Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) works with each student to help position them for a successful entry into the private service workforce.


Is there a student handbook setting out rights and expectations?

Yes there is. This is given to the students when their application is approved and is fully reviewed with the students. All students are then required to sign off on this document as having fully comprehended it. The Academy is registered as a Private Career College under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005 and therefore all our policies and procedures comply with the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005.

 

What are your payment terms?

The program fee is CDN$7,500 plus tax. A deposit of CDN$500 is required upon acceptance of application and remaining payment is due by program commencement.  Your certificate will be issued on graduation day.

 

Does the Academy offer individual courses?

Absolutely.  The cost is $250 per day plus tax.
 

How do I apply?

Students can apply to the Academy by following these steps:

  1. Complete the Application Form that can found on our website.
  2. All applications are then submitted to the Charles MacPherson Academy review board.
  3. Applicants are then contacted by a representative from Charles MacPherson Associates to schedule a formal interview.
  4. Once the applicant has been interviewed and approved, an initial deposit of $500 CDN is required to start processing their application.
