Butler / Houseman

Seeking an experienced Butler / Houseman for executive style residence located in Toronto, Ontario. Previous training and or experience in a semi-formal residence and service is a must. This is a full-time, live-out position. Schedule being primarily weekdays Monday to Friday with hours being 10:00am to 5:00pm. Applicants should be flexible with schedules.
Position Overview:
The position will participate in the day to day running of the residence to maintain standards and overall efficiency for general interior and exterior maintenance including housekeeping, errands, food and beverage service and occasional chauffeur duties. Applicants should be flexible with schedules for occasional evenings and weekends.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Day to day organization of the residence.
- Daily participation with housekeeping including special projects and deep cleaning.
- Care of fine finishes, furnishes, crystal/silver/china.
- Food and beverage services, including table settings.
- Grocery shopping and kitchen pantry management.
- Assist with event planning for catering, décor and floral.
- Maintain and manage household inventories.
- Organizing of upcoming move and merge of two households, pack/unpack & installations.
- Wardrobe management for dry cleaning services, closets and alternations.
- Manage wine cellar and implement inventory controls.
- Guests and visitors, telephone messages.
- Vehicle management and chauffeur duties as required.
- Interior and exterior maintenance for scheduling of trades and vendors including landscapers and seasonal contractors.
- Greeting of guests & visitors.
- Pet care.
Applicant Qualities:
- Must be flexible with work schedules and accommodating to being available on occasion.
- Must have food and beverage service experience.
- Good cooking skills will be considered a strong asset.
- Must have strong time management, punctuality and multi-tasking skills.
- An honest and committed individual who is a self starter, having attention to detail and strong follow through from start to finish on projects.
- Knowledge of the treatment and handling of antiques, fine art and furniture is an asset.
- A polite and polished individual who is flexible, self-motivated and energetic.
- Must have a sense and respect of boundaries, exercise discretion, privacy and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, (own vehicle will be considered an asset).
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Salary will be dependent on previous experience and employment.
